HOLY COW SHE"S ACTUALLY DOING A CONTEST!!

So, here's the deal. There are a few things I want to get caught up on here at Paranormal Point of View. First I want to pass along the wonderful awards I was handed several weeks ago now.

Now, I have been doing some voracious reading and normally, would have reviewed the books with supernatural creatures as I've done in the past. In this case, however, I just plain wanted to tell you all to go buy and read the following two books as fast as your legs will carry you: Mistwood by Leah Cypess and White Cat by Holly Black. They are unbelievably well written and will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more. Period.

Okay. Finally, I have one more announcement. I want to do another interview. You remember the ones I've done, right? Mermaid. Demon. Werewolf.

So, who is next? Give me a suggestion and tell me why in the comments. And then, since I am going to actually give a real prize this time, become a follower (if you aren't already) and tweet/blog/yell out your front door about the contest. Those be the rules. If you tell me in the comments you've met the criteria, I will trust you. The winner (the one I pick and yes it is totally subjective since I am conducting the interview) will receive your very own copy of either of the aforementioned White Cat by Holly Black or Mistwood by Leah Cypess - your choice. Um, I guess you need to leave me a way to contact you too, email would be good.

Ah yes! And the deadline... Hmm. Lets make it Next week Weds. for comments. I'll announce the winner one week from today on my Thursday post. GOOD LUCK!!

  2. After recent inspiration from an unnamed source, I'd go with goblin. If I told you, well... you know how the story goes :)

  4. I'm going to vote for interviewing a Banshee. That might be a little hard, but I think you could do it. :D

  7. Yay for contests - I've added those two books to my TBR, just in case I don't win. :)

Thanks for the shout out!! The Mommy Blogger is just right for me! :)

I would love to see an interview with a faery. Or a fairy. And what the heck is the difference, anyway?

  8. He he. Good question in case I pick that. Which brings up a whole new question people: What if two or more people want the same character??? AND THEN WIN??? Hmm. I KNOW! If the winner is suggested by more than one person, I will give choice to the first commenter and then put the remainders in a drawing for book #2! I so smart.

  9. Your next interview? A zombie. Overdone? How about a zombie who has retained his memories and consciousness a la Jack Barnes in the just-released BRAINS: A Zombie Memoir.

It would be a fascinating read, (undead) hands down!

  10. Sandra - have you seen what happened last time I talked to a zombie?? LOL http://paranormalpointofview.blogspot.com/2010/03/zombie-ate-my-review.html

  12. How about Grendel's Mother from the story of Beowulf. I am truly curious about her.

    (fun contest, Lisa!)

  13. Jodi - thanks for the entry! I'm loving these ideas so far! Very creative.

  14. I vote for a naiad. They can be pretty tricksy, though, so be careful! :-)

  15. A witch's familiar!

    Twittering the contest now: twitter.com/chazleydotson

  16. Shannon - ooh Naiad is good, but they can be tricky to catch..

Chazley - A familiar huh? Very creative!

  17. So many good suggestions already! Hmmmm... how about a centaur???

Thanks so much for passing The Beautiful Blogger my way! You made my day :) Thank you!!

  18. Okay, I know Marissa already commented, but I have one that's especially appropriate today. I want you to please interview a Siren, but not just any Siren. I want you to pick one who is environmentally-minded and only lures polluters and dummies who cause oil spills to their doom. And politicians -- because really, that's okay any time.

Love the contest. As always, you rock!

Oh, and I just noticed your agent is speaking at SCBWI-LA. Are you going, are you, huh, huh? Because I'd love to see you there!!!

    Martina

  19. Jemi - you are so welcome! You are awesome.

Martina - no worries! You get an entry too. Very green of you. Get it? GREEN? He he. And YES I will be at SCBWI LA and so will Rubin! I'd love to meet up w/you guys while I'm there!

  20. Hmm...what about a nymph? Or is that too faerie like? If it is, could always go with a dragon or shapeshifter.

._. I hope naming three doesn't disqualify me. That would suck. xD

Um...I retweeted on twitter (http://twitter.com/cryaegm) and my email is cryaegm(at)gmail(dot)com

    ReplyDelete
  21. Abigail - Any of those might be interesting... I won't disqualify you! But you make me realize I need to think through some better rules for the next time! Lets say Nymph is your suggestion. Personally (and in one of my own manuscripts) Nymphs are different from their fairy cousins.

  22. I'm here because Tahereh tweeted about you. <3 that girl.

My vote is interview an Atlantian (someone from Atlantis) or take your time machine to the fourth dimension and interview and Eloi.

    you decide!

    ReplyDelete
  23. How about a pooka? Very overlooked in the mythological category. Poor babies, it's so hard being imaginary.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Dana - Yup, Tahereh is awesome. Thanks for stopping by and for entering! I do like your suggestions.

Josin - You get definite points for originality!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yay! I'm SO glad you will be in L.A. -- It will be just me though, sorry. Marissa is pooping out. Let's definitely meet up!

    Have a great weekend!

  26. A satyr will be good. I think they are underrated and I feel they have so many secrets which I guess only you can get them to spill!
And what's with the satyrs and the nymphs? I mean, are they like playmates or partners? That's something I never have been able to figure out till date!!
    I Tweeted the page-http://twitter.com/Debasmitadhar/status/14928426015

  27. I'd say a fairy...I mean what do they do all day? Flit around among butterflies? Do they have a temper? And where do they shop at? Seriously, I really just don't know enough about fairies. I'm sure you'll rock it out no matter what creature you choose :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Martina - email me!

    Bookaholic - Nice one!

Slushpile Slut - (I would call you Slut, but you know...) Fairy does seem to be a popular choice. And good questions to ask...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Loving the suggestions and can't wait for this epic interview!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks Lisa and Laura! No suggestions to add? :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'd love to hear a zombie interview! That would be fun! Mistwood is sitting on my to be read pile, can't wait to get to it, especially now that you said it was great. I shall shout out about your contest. You can read me via DM on Twitter!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Heather - that's great! Thanks for the entry. It really is hard to pick!

    ReplyDelete
  33. A dragon, because they're are intelligent, arrogant, breath fire and fly. You can ask him a lot of different questions!

    spav05(at)gmail(dot)com

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hmmm, yes... I suppose some dragons do talk. I'd have to fire proof my house, but...

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm suggesting a gremlin. Those crafty little buggers have got to have something interesting to say.

I just tweeted the contest, and might go ahead and promote it on my blog later today/tomorrow ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  36. Vicki - sounds good! Thanks.

    Yikes! Yet another good suggestion!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. How about a changeling? Those evil spirits who are traded for human babies in the middle of the night. (I suspect my own child is this thing.)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lisa, you are so cute!

OOh, Ooh!! I have an idea whom you can interview--Medusa! She has been through a whole lot and spited of the gods, once a beautiful woman, more beautiful than the goddesses.... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Christi - LOL, I wish I could use that excuse sometimes. ;)

    Elizabeth - Intriguing choice

I'll add you guys to the ever-growing list of possibilities!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Okay I'll put my bid in for a Siren...I know a little predictable for me. I'm going to Tweet your contest right now and I have been dying to read White Cat.

    Thanks! Renae

    ReplyDelete
  41. Renae - welcome! Siren sounds good. I definitely recommend White Cat no matter what though!
