Monday Madness and I Win MORE Awards!

Thank you C. Lee McKenzie for this Beautiful Blogger Award and Julie Musil for this Blogger Mamma Award. I'm honored. To quote London Tipton "Yay me!" Also, since I'm shamelessly self-promoting, check out my first post on
Enchanted Inkpot, up today!

Now, on to today's author. For those of you newbies out there, every Monday, I feature a different author and decide which supernatural creature he/she really is. But first I have a bone to pick with you all. Give me something good to work with in those bios people! Ahem. Sorry. Lost it there for a sec.

Anyways, this week's author is Martina Boone, cohost of the wonderful Adventures in Children's Publishing blog. If you haven't checked it out, you really should. They have gobs of useful information and it's updated like what? Twenty times a day? That was my first clue, btw. I also found out that Martina finds writing both painful and wonderful. That she can't eat until she gets her characters just right.

So, perfectionist, lots of energy and knowhow, forced by a drive beyond measure to continue her pursuit of her obsession. We all know which beings are the most obsessive. Who has been around long enough to pick up that knowhow. Who can afford to stay up all night conflicted by their ability to both love and despise something.

Martina is a vampire. I'd say it's a good thing that her compulsion to fix her characters until they are just right prevents her from eating. So, Martina, now that your secret is out - are you coming after me? Or are you more of a brooding "I'm going to only feed on animals and bloodbanks" kind of a vampire?

  1. Lisa, do you have Martina down, or what?! Love your post. She is phenomenal in every way, especially writing and creating. Ever since we met, I've held onto her like grim death. The best part about Martina is that she has a HUGE heart, though. When it comes to writing, she'll let you know what works and what doesn't in such a thoughtful, constructive, and caring manner. Love her!

  8. Jemi, thanks! We are just spreading the blog-lovin' today!

Lisa, I have a message from the vampire herself. She's asked me to thank you for
her since the sun is still up and she's currently lying on an ice pack with a bad back. And everyone else, she wants you to know that you are too kind and amazing and if she had any blood it would all be rushing to her face!

    Feel better soon, Martina!

    Marissa :)

  9. Thanks for the message Marissa! Tell her I hope she feels better soon. Probably after sundown...

  10. Well, it's a little after sundown, but I finally ran out of ice packs and I'm going to haul my carcass up to bed early. (Yes, even vampires have an off night :-D)

Seriously, Lisa, laughed my incredibly pale but gorgeous (as long as we're fictionalizing) butt off. This was great, and I am beyond words at how kind you all have been. I don't get to gush about Marissa nearly as often as she deserves, but I need to point out that she is amazingly talented and the heartbeat of our blog. So, thanks again to all of you, not just for the kind words here, but for all your blog support. You have made this a delightful adventure for us.

And Lisa, sorry to say, but I am definitely one of those angsty vampires who prefers TrueBlood. Can't even do the bloodbanks, I'm afraid. Can you keep a secret? I faint when I have a blood test. That's very embarassing and painful when you're a vampire. Of course, when you're a vampire it also takes forever just to draw that one lousy vial, and it uses up almost your full supply of blood. Hmmh. No wonder I feel light-headed. Maybe I should get one of those hot male vampires to hold me in case I faint?

  11. Martina, you are so funny! Yes, I'd go the hot male vampire route if I were you. Marissa is great too, but I couldn't get as much info on her for some reason. :) Hope your back feels better!

  12. Calling her out, love it! Come on Martina, don't be the broody animal blood sucking kind. Throw down! Okay, sorry, this is why our race is prone to rioting. My bad. I'll just watch from the sidelines, quietly…

  13. Heather - don't make promises you can't keep! :)

  14. Glad you liked your Beautiful Blogger Award. It fits your site BUTIFFLY.

As to not eating until I get my characters right . . . I'd be a single bone. It takes me forever to nail those people down the way I want them.

  15. Thanks C. Lee. Yes. That's why it is a good thing Martina is a vampire.

  16. Thanks for the transcript like you posted on my blog! It was really great. I like how they were saying we need to push our characters and ourselves to take risks. And to give the characters goals.
