Those that have followed me a while know that I love best selling authors Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie. I've featured the first two books of their Crusade trilogy and now I present the final one - VANQUISHED. Stick around because if you comment you have a chance to win your very own copy courtesy of Simon and Schuster.

This time I've invited my buddy Harold the werewolf to give us his review of the book. *takes allergy pill*

Me: Harry - may I call you Harry?

Harold: No. I try to avoid that thank you very much.

Me: Sorry. Um, so what did you think of the book? Was it a fitting end to the trilogy?

Harold: My biggest problem with the first two books was that there was too much focus on the priest/vampire and not enough on the obvious hero - Holgar the werewolf.

Me: Um, sure. Holgar is an awesome character, but so is Antonio. And Jenn. Well, all of them really. But it's the unattainable love between Antonio and Jenn that make the book.

Harold: Excuse me, but who's giving this review? You or me?

Me: *bites lip*

Harold: As I was saying, I was happy to see that Holgar had a decent part in this book along with the other characters.

Me: Thanks for that review, Harold. Please stop chewing on the armchair.

My opinion? I thought it was an epic ending to an epic series. Nancy and Debbie did a great job switching from one interesting character to another and built up to an ending that deserved the mounting tension in the series. They didn't shy away from difficult subject matter either where it was necessary. Awesome!

Okay - now leave me a comment and I will pick a random winner for the book. Deadline is next week, Sunday. I'll announce the winner on Monday. I like to make it as easy as possible, but even though you don't get extra entries, I'd appreciate you spreading the word!

  1. Ooh, this is by Nancy Holder? Yeah, I must get it now. Love that cover!

  2. I love your character interviews, Lisa. They crack me up every time, and this one is no different.

  3. Can I just say how much I love how you do these book reviews? It's always such an amazing experience. You could write a blurb for toilet paper and keep my attention. Of course, starting with anything by Nancy Holder and I'm already there. Working with her on the 1st 5 pages workshop this month has been incredible! She rocks.

Hugs to you and the munchkin!

  4. I am starting Damned today so i would love to win Vanquished:) Thanks for the giveaway and the great blog post:)

  5. What a clever way to promote a favorite book! I need to try a character interview for one of middle grade Mondays.

  6. Interesting review... didn't give a darn thing away. I'm looking forward to Vanquished coming out. I may just have to re-read Crusade and Damned while I wait.

  7. I love the way you set up the review as an "interview" type thing as well, very neat idea :)

  8. I haven't read this series, but it's been on my wishlist for a while - gotta move it up!

  9. This totally cracked me up! Thank you!!

  10. What a testy werewolf! A fun interview, Lisa, as always. And this series sounds really cool. I haven't read any of these books!

  11. How is it that I haven't read this series before?! Even the cranky werewolf has read it! That's it, I'm adding it to my list!

  12. I didn't know about this series, but I love the cover and your review, so I'll have to add the first books in the series to my TBR pile.

If you don't mind my saying so, I don't think being allergic to Harold is the biggest thing to worry about with him. Gosh, what a grump. LOL.

  13. Ha ha! Love your take on this review. What fun!

  14. Next time, interviews with Harold should be done in wood or metal chairs only.

    Sheez...some people...or wolves...or whatever!

  15. Hope he left you with some furniture! Gotta be careful of who you interview these days.
