It's coming...

Pretty Isn't it?
Soon my friends. THIS MONTH my first novel, THE BINDING STONE, will be available to the masses. Eep. I'm thrilled and scared and happy and excited and anxious and well you get the idea.

So here is my question to you:

What should I do for YOU to celebrate? Everyone runs contests, but is that enough? What will get you (yeah you, the people that read but don't say hello!)  to comment and enter? To celebrate with me????

Suggestions?

Be creative because you know I love that. And to prove it I'll pick one legitimate suggestion/commenter and do a five page critique for you! Just leave your comment and email so I can reach you. I'll use randomizer.org to pick a winner!

Don't forget to add it on Goodreads. Mostly because I'm obsessively checking the page.

WHAT? I have an A type personality! ;D

And come like my author page on FB because it's pretty new and I'm pretty lonely over there. :(

And because I always like giving you posts of value - I want to leave you with my new favorite quote.

"A book, too, can be a star, a living fire to lighten the darkness, leading out into the expanding universe."
- Madeleine L'Engle

  1. Personally, I think contests are the key. Maybe have extra entries for things you really want people to do to shout out about your book. And you might get even more excitement if you throw in an Amazon gift card because people always like that. I'm not really sure of another way to get lots of excitement for a book. That's why I always do my book promotions with a giveaway.

Finished your book last night and LOVED it! Congrats on your debut.

  2. lol I'm still trying to figure this one out for myself. I think contests are great, but often the prizes don't do much for getting people to check out your book. I think if the celebration is on your blog, then you can giveaway a giftcard, but for other blogs who are participating, you're better off giveaway a copy of your book. Those are the prizes I prefer to receive when I see someone promote an authors book and I'm curious about it.

  3. I think the book giveaway's work well too. If you can find out a way to manufacturer word of mouth that would be genius!

  4. Yay!! Exciting (and more than a bit scary, I imagine)!! I don't have any great advice or magic tricks for you, but I love book giveaways. The giveaways of print copies anyway. The ebook giveaways aren't so exciting because I'm a print copy nerd.

  6. I love that quote!!

A themed blog tour is always fun. I think Laura Pauling did one on spies for her book, and Susan K. Quinn did some really cool stuff for Open Minds, I can't remember the specifics now. You could do something on wishes, or on djinn mythology...
